Kaala Chana Hummus

Kaala Chana Hummus

I love Kaala chana salad for lunch but Natasha doesn’t enjoy all the chewing she has to do so she decided to make some hummus out of it and I decided to film it!

Similar to any other hummus: In a blender add boiled chickpeas, lemon juice, tahini, and clove of garlic. Blend well and add olive oil, salt, sumac, and yogurt. Blend again and you are done! Plate it with Olive oil, paprika, and Zatar and that’s it!

What a fun way to get your fiber other than a boring salad! Tag a hummus lover and as always, happy cooking!

PS: There is a great collection of Hummus toasts that we made a while back. Check them out here

Recipe

Ingredients

2-2.5 cups cooked chickpeas, drained (we used kaala chana here)

2 Medium lemons

3 garlic cloves

½ cup tahini, well mixed

2tsp salt

1 tsp. ground cumin

1 tsp of sumac

1 tsp red chilli powder

1 tbsp of yogurt

3 Tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil, plus more for drizzling

Paprika and Za’atar for dressing

Method

  1. Start by adding chickpeas, garlic, tahini and blending well. With a silicone spoon, mix well.

  2. Next add the oil, yogurt, salt, and sumac. Blend again and you are done!

  3. Pro tip: If you want your hummus to be light and fluffy, add 2-3 ice cubes

  4. Plate it in a bowl. Make a well around the insides of the bowl and drizzle with oil, Za’atar and Paprika!
